Political Career of Mamta Banerjee;-
She won the Lok Sabha election for the first time in 1984, defeating Somnath Chatterjee, a
veteran leader of the Jadavpur parliamentary constituency in West Bengal, and became the youngest
MP there.Then in 1991, Didi won the election from South Kolkata’s parliamentary constituency.
Mamta ji remained in this post for a very long time, i.e. till 2009 and when PV Narasimha Rao
was the Prime Minister of our country, Mamta Banerjee was working in the Ministry of Human
Resource Development, Youth Sports, Women and Child Development in the state of West
Bengal and she was the first woman during that time to do all these positions.
Assembly elections were 2011 in West Bengal. At the time, the Communist Party was ruling
for 34 years. At that time her party ended the rule of the Communist Party of India. In the same year
Mamta Banerjee became the first female Chief Minister of the state of West Bengal. Staying on this
post, she did many such works, so that, the people of West Bengal came to know her through the
name of ‘Didi’. In the next 2016 assembly elections too, Mamta ji won again, and she once again
became the Chief Minister of West Bengal. In this way, she has remained in this post till now.
Formation of the All India Trimul Congress Party;-
* In the year 1997, he formed his own new party named All India Trimul Congress Party ie (TMC).
* In 1999, she joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and got a chance to become Railway Minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee‘s government.
*In 2002, she was presented with her first Railway Budget.
*Decided to join the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) in 2009, and won the seat. Again, she got the good fortune of becoming Railway Minister.
*Municipal elections were 2010 in West Bengal, In this election, Her party, TMC, won with
62 seats at Kolkata Municipality Corporation.
