Introduction

Anshuman singh was born in 1997 at Bardiha Dalpat village which is situated in Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh. Subedar Ravi Pratap Singh who is father of Anshuman is an army veteran and his mother is Mrs. Manju Singh. Anshuman has three siblings, including an elder brother and a sister. He studied in Rashtriya Millitary School which is in Himachal Pradesh. He was interested in the army so he decided to join the army force.

After schooling, he got into AFMC which is in Pune to study medicine. When he was graduated he joined the Indian Army as a part of Army Medical College in which they provides medical services to the soldiers. He decided himself to the care of he is fellows soldiers. On 10 February 2023, he married with Mrs. Smriti Singh who is an engineer.

Role of Anshuman Singh in Heroic Act and Martyrdom

On the night of 19 July 2023, a fire brock out in an ammunition store at Chandan dropping zone in Siachen due to short circuit. Displaying quick thinking and fearless leadership, the captain Anshuman Singh manage to save many people who were trapped in the fire. He re-entered his hut to collect a medical aid box but in the process he was seriously burnt and injured in the fire. The most sad thing he lost his life for saving his fellow soldiers.

Awards and Recognition

After the death of captain Anshuman Singh, his mother and his wife got Kirti Chakra for his exceptional bravery. The award was given by Draupadi Murmu on 5 july2024 who is the president of India.

Personal life

On 10^th February 2023, he married to Smriti Singh, who is an engineer.  A day before Anshuman’s death, they both had talked for a long time in which they had planned for their future. They talked about buying a house and having children. Anshuman’s death was shocking news for his family. They were not be able to believe about Anshuman’s death and when they got Kirti Chakra, they got confirmed.

“The parents of Captain Anshuman Singh have demanded a change in the ‘next of relative’ policy of the Indian Army. They want not only the wife but also financial help to live with martyr’s parents. Current rules give priority to spouses over parents after marriage, causing families like their to face difficulties. The late officer’s parents Ravi Pratap Singh and Manju Singh expressed their concerns in an interview with TV9 Bharatvarsh. She believes the NOK rules need to be “re-reviewed”, nothing that their daughter-in-law Smriti Singh inherited most of the rights after Anshuman’s death. But no longer lives with them.

Just days after the investiture ceremony, Singh’s parent’s have now claimed that their daughter-in-law took the gallantry award along with their son’s clothes and photo album to her home in Gurdaspur, Punjab.

Sources told ABP News that the father of the martyred soldier said that he was unhappy with his daughter-in-law’s behavior. And said that his son lost his life but he did not get anything.

According to the media reports, she also changed the permanent address listed in her husband’s official documents from Lucknow to Gurdaspur to ensure that any communication regarding Singh goes through him.
