Chirag Paswan was born on October 31, 1982, in Khagaria, Bihar, India. He is the son of late Ram Vilas Paswan, a prominent leader in Indian politics who founded the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), and Raj Kumari Devi. Chirag completed his education from the Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, and later pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the KIIT University in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Chirag Paswan entered politics at a relatively young age, following in the footsteps of his father. He became actively involved in the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), which was founded in 2000. Chirag’s political career gained momentum when he contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from the Jamui constituency in Bihar and emerged victorious, thus becoming a Member of Parliament at the age of 31.
Over the years, Chirag Paswan held various positions within the LJP and was seen as a rising political figure in Bihar. His father, Ram Vilas Paswan, who had been a stalwart in Indian politics for decades, groomed him to take on a leadership role within the party.

On 10th june 2024, chirag paswan has been nominated as union cabined minister for Food processing in India under the BJP government.
Chirag paswan has take oath as a union minister in prime minister Narendra Modi’s government on Sunday. Paswan thanked PM Modi for trusting him.
